Jamboree On The Air (JOTA)

The 51st Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) is an annual event in which Boy and Girl Scouts and leaders from all over the world speak to each other by means of Amateur (ham) Radio. Scouting experiences are exchanged and ideas are shared via radio waves. With no restrictions on age and at little or no expense, JOTA allows Scouts to contact each other by local ham radio groups. This year the event will take place on Saturday October 18. Two local radio groups are supporting the event. The W1AQ radio group will be operating at their club house at 54 Kelley Avenue, East Providence, RI between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:30 PM. and a radio group formed by the ham radio operators of Shawomet district will be operating at Camp Aquapaug from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. To register at the W1AQ radio group visit their web site at http://www.w1aq.com/. To register at the Champlin Scout Reservation contact Matt Hackman at matthew-e-hackman@cox.net ; Information about JOTA can be accessed by the links provided on the W1AQ web site and at www.scouting.org/international.
